What is your scope?

What 'type' of therapy is this, and how does it work?

What 'type' of therapy is this, and how does it work?

I am a registered associate marriage & family psychotherapist supervised by licensed clinicians. I provide "general" psychotherapy, covering an array of skills and techniques, informed by principles found in a variety of orientations, but I do not specialize in any one particular method, nor do I provide psychological testing services (i.e. for ADHD or Autism Spectrum).

What 'type' of therapy is this, and how does it work?

This form of psychotherapy is more explorative and supportive than directive. And my personal psychotherapist style is more insight-oriented than behavioral.

Who is this therapy most appropriate for?

Who would this therapy not be beneficial for?

I am a general psychotherapist, with a special focus on psychedelic health, holistic health, LGBT issues, and codependency issues. Psychotherapy with me is best for those seeking to expand self-awareness, understand the dynamics and mechanics of what is going on, and find neutral perspective they wouldn't get elsewhere.

Who would this therapy not be beneficial for?

The type of psychotherapy provided here is likely not suitable for those undergoing current crisis involving imminent self-harm or those who may require on-going medical (psychiatric) stabilizing, active or pending criminal or civil court cases, or those active recurring psychoses or hallucinations. In these circumstances, it is possible that online psychotherapy does not provide the level of support and care that you may need to sustain your well-being.

It's my duty as a psychotherapist to ensure you're getting the most appropriate (with fully informed consent) support, even if this means referring you to other professionals.

How is paperwork handled?

Who would this therapy not be beneficial for?

What is the beginning like?

All of the paperwork and documents are digital and privately secured in a portal only you can access. Psychotherapy paperwork, consent forms, and payment info will be stored there, in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Psychotherapists are required to comply with the same privacy regulations governing all other health service providers.

What is the beginning like?

The first few sessions are spent mostly gathering background information, and connecting the relevant dots of whats going on for you to that historical bio. We'll also determine and confirm an appropriate schedule. We'll also attend to any questions (including these frequently asked questions) before psychotherapy begins in earnest.

When does therapy end?

Are you online or in-office?

How frequent are sessions?

When you feel you're ready, or when you conclude that you've received as much benefit as you're ever going to get from it. It is your choice.

How frequent are sessions?

Sessions are generally held once (1x) weekly, at least to begin with, so we can appropriately develop goals and understanding about what brings you here.

Depending on your needs, goals, and general trajectory, we can collaborate on a schedule more fitting to you as time goes on. Psychotherapy can often be tailored to any rhythm or pacing, so long as both you and therapist find it therapeutic.

Are you online or in-office?

As of September 2022, I am still seeing all my clients online. Thus, you only need to primarily reside in California (and have functioning internet and privacy) for to receive psychotherapy services. As a law, your psychotherapist must be licensed in the state you hold primary residence in.

What about health insurance?

What about psychedelic therapy?

Because I am not covered by health insurers, all costs are self-pay.

However, this frees us to arrange our own payment arrangement that can make your appointments more financially sustainable.

What about psychedelic therapy?

I provide supportive preparation-oriented psychotherapy for those pursuing a psychedelic-medicine route on their own personal time.

I also provide post-experience integration therapy for those who have already experienced an altered consciousness and wish to analyze or integrate it.
